ASTRA Training
Because of a grant from the Trident Workforce Investment Board ASTRA is able to offer two training programs to the lowcountry to help accomplish the goal of building a strong cyber security initiative in the Charleston area. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA Security) and Security + Certification programs will be the beginning of ASTRA’s education initiative.
SOA Systems founder Thomas Erl is the world’s top-selling SOA author and series editor of the Prentice Hall Service-Oriented Computing Series from Thomas Erl. Books from this series are part of the official curriculum for the SOASchool.com SOA Certified Professional program. SOA Systems Inc. has become widely recognized for developing a comprehensive vendor-neutral certification curriculum dedicated to service-oriented computing and service-oriented architecture (SOA), as part of the acclaimed SOASchool.com SOA Certified Professional (SOACP).
CompTIA Security+ validates knowledge of systems security, network infrastructure, access control, assessments and audits, cryptography and organizational security. It is an international, vendor-neutral security certification that is taught at colleges, universities and commercial training centers around the world. Students will learn about IT industry-wide security topics, including communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack, and operational and organization security.
- CYBER SECURITY TRAINING:
- First two courses are:
1. Comptia Security + (This concentrates on System Administration and is a requirement for Sys Admins at SPAWAR)
2. SOA Security Specialist (Offered by SOA Systems / Thomas Erl)
Both courses are underwritten for 10 students. Future effort is to create a Multi Level program. Three levels: Youth, Displaced Workers, Incumbent Workers. Cluster/New Carolina will administer the program.
